Jimmie Rogers' article on The Lancers in the RSCDS Bulletin for 2003 mentioned the upcoming publication of a book by Ellis Rogers called The Quadrille: A Practical Guide to Its Origin, Development, and Performance." I would think the book would be out by now, but I haven't found any mention of it through a web search or the British Library catalogue. Does anyone happen to know anything about it? Rosemary Coupe

Ellis' book "The Quadrille" is now out. It's nearly 300 pages plus appendices of information on quadrilles and their history. The ISBN number is 0-9546344-0-3. You can also find Ellis' contact details on the quadrille page of our website at www.greengingerband.co.uk. There is also "Five Basic Quadriilles - three French and Two Scottish Quadrilles of the early 19th Century" by Ellis Rogers (published 2002), which includes an "Introduction [to quadrilles] for Scottish Country Dancers" by Jimmie Hill. I don't know if this material is also included in the book mentioned in Meryl's email below. Susi Susi Mayr Vienna, Austria xxxx@xxxxxxx.xx.xx

Many thanks, Meryl and Susi. I'll watch out for the CD. I'm sure Marie at TACSound will carry it. Rosemary
