See: https://www.royalballetschool.org.uk/2019/05/16/out-of-step-the-need- for-change-in-ballet-teacher-training/ Thanks to Katharine Hoskyn for posting a link to this article on the SCD Teachers Facebook page. Not everything in the article applies to SCD, but as Katharine says, it provides a lot to think about for anyone interested in SCD teaching. Chris, New York.

I took the liberty of reposting the link to the Royal Ballet article on the international Morris Dancing mailing list. One respondant replied thus: ==== Interesting article. Way back, Ron Smedley and Bob Parker (Beaux of London City Morris Men) were staff teachers at the Royal School of Ballet. They introduced morris and sword in the curriculum. They used to take part in Morris Ring meetings etc. Peter Kennedy also taught clog dance there. This tradition was carried on by the fabulous Simon Rice. He was lead dancer then went back to teach - he can still crack out a great clog dance. https://pure.royalholloway.ac.uk/portal/en/publications/interviews- with-ron-smedley-and-simon-rice-on-the-teaching-of-folk-dance-and- national-dances-at-the-royal-ballet-school-additional-material-on- track-3-dvd(8b4b915b-aac9-48ca-8443-7966c385f541).html I bumped into the Royal Ballet on Tour. I was staying in the same hotel. On the last night of the tour they went into party mode - in the bar they pushed four tables together and did a rapper sword dance on the tables.
