swords was banned, but there was an exemption for those used in dancing.

Hey, there's also music! Without us musicians, where  would  all  the
rest of the people dance?

(This is my favorite example of why you don't want everyone to  agree
on matters of taste. If everyone preferred to play music, there would
be no dancing; if everyone preferred to  dance,  there  would  be  no
music to dance to.  So the ideal situation is widespread disagreement
over whether it's more fun to play music or to dance.)
