Happy New Year Everyone. If you are a teacher (whether certificated by the RSCDS or not) or a musician this conference is for you. Come and learn from the Masters - Ruth Jappy, John Middleton and Geoffrey Selling for the dancers and Muriel Johnstone and Keith Smith for the musicians. This is something I have long wanted to do, there will be three sessions each day for the dancers, one with each teacher followed by a discussion group. These very successful teachers will give of their knowledge in these classes - you will be able to cover all the aspects of teaching dance (particulary Scottish Country) during the classes and hopefully some of the excellence will rub off on the rest of us. There will be social activities each evening, including a concert from Muriel and Keith on the Friday evening. The music course will be full of information on how to play for Scottish Dance Classes, how to get the traditional sounds and nuances into your playing. It's no secret that these are two of the best Scottish dance musicians - so if you want to improve, what better opportunity than all day classes with these masters of the art! The cost of this extravaganza is $495US before the end of February, after that date it will be $545US. I am going to organize VISA payments, to make it easier for people. If you are interested in joining us (space is limited), please contact me at xxxx.x@xxxxxxx.xxx. I will email you an application form with the greatest of pleasure. Hoping to be inundated. Irene Paterson

Sounds great, but... Where? (as the price is in US dollars, I assume it must be somewhere over there?) When? It does seem like most useful information was removed from the original post before sending to the list, doesn't it? Anselm, is this a new feature of the server software? :-) Since I'm planning to attend the musicians' section, I know that this is at Sonoma State University, Rohnert Park CA (north of San Francisco) 6/15 to 6/19/05 (at least, this is what's on my calendar!). Hope to see other Strathspey-ers there! -Steve Wyrick Sophie Rickebusch said: > Sounds great, but... > > Where? Steve wrote > It does seem like most useful information was removed from > the original post before sending to the list, doesn't it? > Anselm, is this a new feature of the server software? :-) I always find it helpful when the important info is in the Subject line, e.g. "Scottish Dance Masters' Conference, San Francisco June 15-19", or similar. Then I don't have to read the email and get envious about events I can't go to! Regards, Jan Beaconsfield, UK

Hello everyone, Sorry, I did it wrong again. The conference is being held at Sonoma State University, Rohnert Park Campus in California, USA. This is north of San Francisco in the wine country. The dates are June 15th - 19th, 2005. The nearest airport is Oakland, but there are shuttle buses from both San Francisco and Oakland. We are hoping to be able to make an arrangement with the bus company to make this as simple as possible for participants. I think that's all the major items I omitted. Irene

G'Day, It would help if the dates of the Conference were included! I suppose it was an oversight. Brian Charlton, Sydney, Australia

Hi Irene, I hope very much to come to this-it sounds wonderful. While I procrastinate, could you please clarify the cost: does it rise to $545 at the end of Feb. (as below) end of March (TACTalk) or end of April, as I think was on the original applic. form? best wishes Rosemary Coupe

HI Rosemary, We extended the deadline, if you are definitely coming just send the lower amount - I will reserve the place for you. Initially it was the end of February, which I really felt was too early, then I know I extended it to the end of March, but as it is my event, I can do whatever I like. We would just like you to be there. Sorry for the confusion. Irene
