On Saturday August 2nd ,the NY Branch held its annual event "Summer Dance" at the United Nations in New York City. The proceeds are for the benefit of UNICEF . The day started off around 1pm with many dancers dancing in that wonderful entrance hall at the UN. People from around the world were asking the dancers if they were here from Scotland ? They were very suprised to find out that we were from around the area. The dancing was a lot of fun (as it should be) It really was a spectacular picture watching the dancers. All the ladies wore white dresses with sashes and the men of course were in their finest kilts. (Miss Milligan would have been real proud of the group) Around 4pm the dancers were piped through the streets of New York to the Armory were dinner was served. Of course we did more dancing. !!!!. We also bade farewell to one of our dancers who was returning back to Holland after spending a year in the NY/NJ area.. This is a wonderful event and we would like to see more dancers join us August 1998 Louis Perez For anyone interested the next big event in this area is an event put on by the New Jersey Branch. "The Alpine Boat Basin" on Sunday Sept 14th starting at 1pm This is a benefit to support "Teacher Development" Come and have lots of fun!
