Martin gave some of the lyrics to The Dashing White Sergeant. Here's what
we learnt at school:

Now the fiddler's ready let us all begin
And step it out and step it in
To the merry music of the violin
We'll dance the hours away.
[Repeat]
Katy and Peggy and Patsy and Coll
Calum and Peter and Flora and Moll
Dance, dance, dance, dance,
Dance away the hours together!
Dance till dawn be in the sky!
What care you and what care I?
Hearts a-beating, spirits high,
Let's dance, dance, dance!

Or there are the words Scotland the What put to it as part of their
Auchterturra band medley (words the band might put to common Scottish dance
tunes - Kate Dalrymple, The Dashing White Sergeant, Glasgow Highlanders,
Kenilworth, The Deil Amang the Tailors, Cailin Mo Ruin-sa (sp?) and back to
Kate Dalrymple):

It's a harmless hobby and it pays the rent
And I wouldnae say it's fraudulent
But we dinna notify the government
And we never tak a cheque.
Any engagement to play that we take
This is the only condition we make:
Just pay cash as we are leaving -
Fivers, please, at the end of the evening;
But one office party we went to,
We never knew it was the Revenue -
The fee, we spent it, but the tax folk kent it,
And got maist o't back!

Cheers,

Ian
