Hi Stella,

 From the Collins Pocket Reference, it's a round the room dance, so 
could go as many times as one likes.

Beginning couple facing couple:

4 hands round and back
hands across and back
turn opposite by the left, then partner by the right (4 bars each)
advance and retire, and couples facing widdershins dance under arches 
made by
couples facing clockwise, to meet the next couple.
