Mendocino Scottish Camp, August 24 to 30th:

http://www.best.com/~tlb/mendocino

Come and spend a delightful week of dance, music, and frolic in the majestic
redwoods of the northern California coast at Mendocino Woodlands Camp!
That's 5 days and 6 nights of fun for Scottish country dancers at all
levels.

This event doesn't happen every year, so don't miss this opportunity!

I think the best times of my life were the weeks I spent at past Mendocino
Scottish Camps. Maybe other campers on this list, will join in and tell
everyone
how much fun this event was in past years! Share your favorite memories of
camp with us.

There will be five full mornings of classes. Afternoons will feature
special classes, or the chance to explore the woodlands, swim, practice your
ceilidh act, or even take a nap! There will be dances and parties after
dinner each night and the week will culminate with a banquet and formal
ball.

Camp director, Arlene Baxter, arranged for an outstanding staff of teachers
and musicians:

Teachers:
Ellie Briscoe of Arlington, Virginia
Elaine Brunken, most recently of Albany, California
Martin Mulligan of Newfoundland, Canada

Musicians:
Kim McGarrity returns as music director, and will be joined by Janet
Kurnick, David Mostardi, Lyle Ramshaw, and, special guest, Earl Gaddis.

This is an outstanding pool of musical talent and we are sure you will be
thrilled by their music. You may have heard recordings featuring these
musicians, which include Fiddlesticks and Ivory's Ghillies' on the Golden
Gate and Bare Necessities' English Country Dance Music and Take A Dance.

Mendocino Woodlands camp is a nature preserve with true rustic ambiance.
The dance pavilion and dining hall are woodsy and charming and the kitchen
staff has amazed us with truly fine meals throughout the day.

You will be served three sumptuous meals each day, plus snacks, featuring
the freshest vegetables and fruits, homemade breads, and choice meats and
fish. Eating at the Woodlands will forever change your notion of "camp
food".

Accommodations are rustic cabins with their own fireplaces and porches.
There is no electricity or water in the cabins, but two shower houses
provide hot water and electricity.

The entire cost of the week ( including cabin, all meals, all classes,
activities and events ) is only $375 US. There are 10 work scholarships
available and we encourage you to take advantage of them. The cost for work
scholarships is only $200!

Visit our web page for further details and photos about this great
experience. A brochure and application are available in PDF format at the
web page: http://www.best.com/~tlb/mendocino. (note: this URL is all
lowercase letters, no numbers).

If you have questions about camp, send email to Arlene Baxter at
