Irish Jig

April 23, 1998, 9:03 p.m. (Message 11761)

I have seen the Irish Jig performed and have been told that it is a characture
of an Irish girl. It shows all the negative aspects of a person, their anger,
their clumsiness, their inability to dance well (as compared with the
Scottish). The costume is also a parody of the Irish - She's done up like a
maid.
And I don't feel that we should be teaching this to our young women.
Cheers,
