Can anyone help with full instructions of Terry Glasspool's dance "Bishop of Columbus"? In the Minicrib bars 25-32 are described as "Tandem RSh reels" but are they actually man behind woman throughout or what RSCDS calls "tandem", i.e. the lead person changes at each end of the reel? It looks as though you can get Glasspool's dances online but it requires signing up to AOL Lifestream, which looks quite intrusive. Thanks, Andrew ----- Andrew Buxton Lewes, East Sussex, UK

Hi, > Can anyone help with full instructions of Terry Glasspool's dance "Bishop of Columbus"? answered privately. > In the Minicrib bars 25-32 are described as "Tandem RSh reels" but are they actually man behind woman throughout or what RSCDS calls "tandem", i.e. the lead person changes at each end of the reel? It should be "shadow reels" not "tandem reels", i.e. not changing orders at the ends. > It looks as though you can get Glasspool's dances online but it requires signing up to AOL Lifestream, which looks quite intrusive. Yes, unfortunately Terry's pages have got lost in the universe of the web, but still the links to them can be found all over the place. Best wishes, Heiko

Never understood why anyone would call them "tandem" reels. You don't see couples riding tandem bicycles getting off and changing seats every time the road curves. Nor, to change the subject, have I ever understood the term "barn-door" turns for the figure in which one partner turns another person by right hand and the other partner turns another by the left hand. Barn doors don't and can't revolve 360 degrees. Mike Briggs 1519 Storytown Road Oregon WI 53575-2521 USA +1 608 835 0914 (o) +1 608 770 2304 (m) +1 608 237 2379 (f)

Hi Mike and All, I quite agree about these terms. I'd never heard of tandem reels or mirror reels and the like until fairly recently and have never heard of barn door turns. Where do these things come from and what's wrong with right and left? Don't get me started or leave the barn door open! Best regards, Alan Harrison. RSCDS Leeds www.piper-alan.co.uk
