Can anyone tell me which of the Ian Muirs (Ian R Muir from Hampshire and
Ian T Muir from Banchory) is the composer of the tunes Jig for Annie and
Jig for Archie in Roy Goldring's Book "A Reel for Alice"?

Well, I'm almost certain they are not by Ian R Muir, leader of the
Craigellachie Band (who, by the way, now lives in Kitbury, Berkshire).
Having had the inestimable honour of playing in his band for 18 years I've
not come across them so I assume they are by Ian T Muir from Prestwick.

Now why didn't I think of asking you, Graham? Obvious when you think
about it.

And thanks for correcting me on Ian T Muir's location (who do I know in
Banchory, then?)

Alan,

I have just returned from staying the weekend with Roy Goldring, whilst
tutoring at the musician's course for RSCDS Leeds Branch yesterday and I
took the opportunity to check out your query. I can confirm that both tunes
were definitely composed by Ian Muir of Prestwick - so you dont't need to go
looking for anybody in Banchory!!!
