On the subject of devising dance programs and keeping track of figures to avoid repetition and clumping: A local teacher, Carolyn Hunt, has a system for keeping track of figures when devising a program which I thought I'd pass along. She has cut up a Pilling book, and has a (tiny) alphabetical file of individual dance diagrams -- when a dance goes onto the program, she takes out the diagram for that dance, and (with removable tape) sticks it onto a piece of paper. It's easy to scan, and watch for repeating figures, and easy to move a dance from one spot to another without having to repeat any figure-tracking you've already done. I've seen people do this with dance *names* on post-it notes, and use some sort of diagram to track the figures, but this does it all at once, and is self-adjusting as the program evolves. Cheers.
