Contra shoes and contra repetition

One of the callers in the Midwest, Roger Diggle, always seems to wear red, 
white and blue bowling shoes.  They're a hoot!

I like the repetition of contra; I find it relaxing.  And around here, no 
two people do things exactly the same way, so I find there's always a little 
surprise.  I'm never quite sure what's going to happen to me at the end of a 
lady's chain.  My husband, on the other hand, prefers SCD and the exciting 
tension of wondering where he's going to go next.  He danced contra at a 
wedding (and was great with the beginners) but generally won't go to a 
contra dance unless there are special circumstances.

I prefer SCD, but I'm not sure why.  I certainly laugh a lot more doing 
contra.
