Bearing in mind today's climate where you have to think of cost, I would
believe that the reason for publishing away from the 'heart' of the matter
is one of amongst other things - economy - if the best publishers (and
cheapest) were in a different place and if you wanted your literary/musical
efforts to reach as many people as possible, it made sense to go 'south'
