FYI, several of us from the Twin Cities Branch of the RSCDS started a Rapper Sword Team (often called a "side") here in Minneapolis. We're called "Duck or Grouse" (get it?). You can see a video of us performing a simple dance here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTfzLjv27Cc As you may notice, we couldn't resist throwing in a few nods to our origins as Scottish dancers. Incidentally, the origin of the rapper "swords" was explained to me a bit differently. I was told that this type of dancing originated with miners in Northumbria, and the "swords" are based on the tool used to scrape the soot/dirt off the pit ponies. For anyone interested, there's a load of information here: http://www.rapper.org.uk/ Lara Friedman-Shedlov Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA ***************************** Lara Friedman~Shedlov xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxx.xxx *****************************
