A celebration of Scotland - Dancing Forth - the Scottish Show
9th - 13th August 2011, Edinburgh Academy, Henderson Row
Edinburgh Branchs Fringe Show Dancing Forth the Scottish Show is almost
upon us, so if you havent already got your tickets, now is the time to buy
and book your place.
The theme this year is a celebration of Scotland sharing the breathtaking
beauty of Scotland through song, music and dance. We are rejoined by soloist
Siobhan Miller, and by a new addition to the cast, verse speaker Sean Kane.
Pete Clark and friends (Peter Shand, Keith Smith and Wendy Weatherby) will
provide the toe tapping tunes.
Members of the Dem Team have been deep in rehearsals learning the intricate
choreography of Stewart Adam. The dances and songs this year have been
chosen to celebrate the people, places, pastimes and produce of Scotland and
the Islands. This year we are proud to include "The Kandahar Reel", the
newest RSCDS published dance devised by two Scottish soldiers while on tour
in Afghanistan. Scotland's diverse culture and heritage is celebrated;
dances commemorate people such as Miss Gibson and Mrs Stewart and the past
times of the Hebridean weavers.
For those of you attending week 4 at Summer School, there is a coach
organised for the Friday night 12th August. £22 gets you return travel to
Edinburgh, entry to the show and a complementary programme and drink.
Numbers are strictly limited to one coach-load, so contact Ann Riley or
Atsuko Clement in St Andrews to book your place now. Or contact the Branch
