There is a biography: _Jimmy Shand_, by David Phillips (pub. D. Winter & Son
Ltd, 15 Shore Terrace, Dundee, 1976). It's the worst-written book I've read
in a long time, but does have a lot of information in it, including a big
discography. Shand deserves better than that, though.
I was at the Auchtermuchty Traditional Music Festival last weekend, and I
think I saw Jimmy Shand in the audience at one of the concerts (miserable-
looking old git, but if Phillips's account is right, getting him to smile
at anything was a very rare event - he just wasn't the outgoing type).
