All this talk about book 44 makes me nervous.
I have yet to see such a publication (which is why it's not in the
database). Do all you RSCDS msmbers out there have your copy?
Alan
Not in Atlanta as yet.

Not in Virginia, Maryland or DC as yet. I think they were available at St
Andrews, but we often don't get them here in th States til late in the year.

One of our members was at St Andrews and brought the book and the CD back with her. But our branch's copies of the books won't arrive till later in the year.

Book 44 has not been issued in Scotland yet either EXCEPT to those attending
Summer School at St Andrews.
HQ are telling Branches it is delayed owing to a printing problem.
Word in the crowd is that the first printing had to be pulped.

Finally dawned on me why none of my messages seemed to get through to the
list- I have changed my email address!! Not very computer literate I'm
afraid. As Anne Walker has already stated, book 44 has not been received by
Western Australia. Elspeth at HQ has informed me that the last batch should
be sent out by the end of the week.

Yes it was a very good idea that all who attended StA were
issued with a copy on signing in so we could all read up the dances
before class. !! :)) er, yes!

That is what we heard. Something about the one tune being
printed for two dances and some other bother. It could be down to the
printers? Don't really know about that.
I got my copy at St Andrews, but I heard that the musicians hadn't got it a week before Summer School started. If that is so, well done to all of them.

ALL-NEW Yahoo! Messenger - all new features - even more fun!
Having seen a few messages relating to Book 44, I thought it might be helpful if I let you know the position. The printing of the book was indeed delayed because an error was found. This was the printer's mistake, which they put right by reprinting at their own cost. We managed to get sufficient copies of the amended book to distribute at Summer School, and believed that they would be sent out to Branches and members during August. However, there have been problems with the distribution data, but these have now been put right and I have been assured that the balance of the books will be sent out by the end of this week.
For those of you who haven't received yours yet, I hope you enjoy the dances when you get them!

Hi all,
<peeking out from lurk-dom>
I'm one of three teachers of an unaffiliated Scottish Country Dance club
waaaaaaay out in Boise, Idaho. We have been lucky enough to run our
classes through the local school district's Community Education program
so far, but suddenly this Fall, all Community Ed class have been
cancelled due to funding issues.
Among other issues, such as finding a new venue with an acceptable
floor, we anticipate having to provide our own insurance. I'm looking
into various things, but I thought I would also ask this List for ideas.
Aren't there some national dance organizations where SCD groups can get
insurance? Seems like I remember there are, but can't remember the
names.
Useful suggestions and ideas would be very welcome.
Meanwhile I'm off to do some more research...
thanks,
Monica Bielke
Would really appreciate obtaining a list of dances planned for the Nov 13
social in Victoria , BC.
I will be at UVIC for a 4 day course and will be eager to attend.
Thanks Nina in Powell River.
Hi Monica,
The four southern California branches now have insurance through
the United Square Dancers of America insurance program:
http://www.usda.org/insuranc.htm
We are identified as non-affiliate groups and pay a slightly higher
fee per member than quoted by the brochure:
http://www.usda.org/trifold/insflyer.pdf
I hope this will be helpful.

No mention of a CD to accompany Book 44. Anyone shed light on this?
Thank you,
Jack
Yes, there is a CD. It was on sale at Summer School and presumably you can
order it from the shop now.
