Is there any one out there that was involved in the SCD portion of the
movie "Crush" made with actress, Andie MacDowell? We watched a 10
minutes portion of the movie at class on Monday night (some classes
provide tea breaks) and wanted to know if any of the dancers involved
were RSCDS members? They were dancing "Strip the Willow" and "St
Bernard's Waltz"

Now we've all exorcised ourselves again over Ceilidh vs Country surely
the point is that Ceilidh is where non dancers most often come into
contact with some form of "traditional" dance. It may be a wedding , a
work function, a fund raiser or a conference. It therefore must be
regarded as a potential place of contact where potential Country Dancers
can be "enticed".
If the majority of Country Dancers are running around avowing Ceilidh is
uncouth ,dangerous, arrhythmic or whatever so they don't do it while at
the same time the participants of the Ceilidhs are having a ball ,and
generally surviving unscathed, then there is little hope of developing
new interest in Country Dancing in these loci. Dressing up in elbow
length white gloves and sweaty black jackets isn't likely to do the
business.

Don't those who do ceilidh dancing at weddings etc. usually dress
like that?? I've never been to a dance where anyone dresses like
that. A few Balls maybe ...

Happy Dancing
