My beloved wife Dorothy, who unfortunately passed away last summer, had a=

hip replacement done in 1978 and danced a considerable amount after that.=

In 1976 whe was riding a bicycle she was struck by a car with resulting
severe damage to her left hip. In '78 whe had the hip replaced and it
restored about 90 percent of the mobility. She danced vigorously until he=
r
knees and "good" hip began decaying (from arthritis) in the '90s or until=

she was about 70 years old and had a knee replaced as well and even then
continued to do Strathspeys. She did cross country skiing until the mid
'80's when she found that downhill skiing, with modern equipment and
groomed trails, was easier on the joints and she went back to downhill
skiing, admittedly very cautiously. The excercise was good for her and fo=
r
her joint structure. Encourage the person with the hip replacement to get=

back to dancing.
