Just on a quick breeze-through, without looking any of the dances up,
I can tell you that the The White Heather Jig, The Black Mountain
Reel, and The Irish Rover are not good warm-up dances. Most dancers I
know use the first dance or so to warm up both brain and body. All
three of these are fairly quick dances and require both concentration
and brisk turns (turn by the right and cast, half diagonal rights and
lefts, being both a first corner and a second corner). These three
are among my favorite dances, but (even) I wouldn't want to dance them
first in an evening: I wouldn't enjoy them until later in the program!
