Lynn, please be sure to **exclude** from your research some of the gestures
I witness while driving to work in the morning. Reporting on these might
cause the authorities to shut down Strathspey for public policy reasons. :)

I've been know to tell beginners who look totally lost "if someone holds
out a hand to you, take it; if someone taps their shoulder, pass them on
that side; if someone points you in a direction, go there." These few
rules are often sufficient to get the beginner through.
