You might consider 6X32 of several popular dances (some I have made up out
of recordings of 8X32) Petronella, Mairi's Wedding (for times when you have
6 or 12 dancers show up) and any of the popular 2 couple dances when sets
of 3 couples are formed up.
Would love it if for the strathspeys there would be less doodly doodling. We
have all been to workshops where in the class, the teacher and musician have
demonstrated the BIG difference between 'pastoral' and 'authentic'
strathspey music. wonderful when the musician concentrates on putting the
DRIVE (surge) of the strathspey step into the playing of the music. Alas in
many recordings that strong surge is lost when (bored?) musicians start to
put little runs and other kinds of embellishments (doodly doodling) into the
music. I suppose that it would be boring to play the 'surgy' kind of music
for 8X32, but I'd like to see more strathspeys with that special surging
type of music.
