Danced very nicely of course, but taught (walked) with the usual rubbish
about "change of weight".
Why do teachers go on telling their groups to put weight on the foot in 3rd
position on beat two?
I consider the sequence should be: spring onto R foot (weight), tap the L
foot in front (no weight, the body is airborne as the R foot bounces off the
ground), drop back onto R foot and extend L to jeté.
If this is how the teacher dances, why does s/he walk it in a completely
different manner? Probably because that is the way s/he learned it and is
just repeating what was said, rather than analysing the actual dance
movement.
Not a new subject on Strathspey, I know, but it has not come up recently.
