I'm working on a digestified version of the list that people can subscribe to
instead of the current version. This means that instead of fifteen separate
messages they receive one huge message, which will presumably be sent out
sometime during the wee hours of the morning (European time). I don't envision
maintaining several mailing lists separated by topic, since I don't believe
the benefits will merit the extra work.
Actually, I'm amazed at the way traffic on the list has increased over the
last couple of days. We'll have to see if it stays that way, but I suspect
that once the heated discussions about publishing dances and two-handed
pas de basque turns dies down, the volume of mail will once again drop to
the more usual level of one or two messages per day. If traffic stays as
high as during the last half week or so, and if subscription requests keep
streaming in at a rate of several daily, as they do now, maybe we'll have
to consider starting an RFD for a Usenet newsgroup in a couple of months.
This will probably be worthwhile once we are past 300 or so subscribers and
a consistent rate of 10 or 15 messages per day. (Right now there are about
160 subscribers to the list.)
