A sgian dubh is not a weapon, it's a utility knife (although today's vers=
ions
are more often suitable for gouging pieces off a marshmallow rather than
cutting anything).
Therefore it is even more proper at outings where somebody might be expec=
ted
to bring one's own knife (such as picknicks) than at fancy events (like
balls) where cutlery is likely to be provided by the organizers.
So, yes, it's OK to wear a sgian dubh whenever you are wearing a kilt
(there'd not be much point in carrying one under your usual pants).
