This may not be what Anselm´s debate is about, but it certainly is the
filter through which many RSCDS people see things, as exemplified in my
comments on the choices of words I cited.
As a parallel example, President Reagan, the "great communicator", in
some discussion once said that there was a "need to reach out to these
people". He could have said the same thing and left out the word "out".
The difference, while subtle, suggests a separaton that itself was a
part of the problem - those people are "out" and our people are "in".
Reaching suggest a meeting of equals, reaching out suggests a hierarchy.
