Hi Elaine -

I have never seen the original instructions for this dance, but I could tell
you that when I have danced it at a social, the consensus (presumably among
dancers who knew it better than I, or who at least been taught consistently)
was:

25-26 1st cpl "turn 1/2" LH, i.e. they continue the pattern but drop hands
so they can clap (with the rest of the set) on bar 26, which they also use
to recover their direction for the next turn.

27-28 1st cpl "turn 1/2" RH similarly, i.e. they continue the pattern but
drop hands so they can clap on bar 28.

29-32 Cpls 3,1,2 circle 1/2.

The awkward part for me was always taking hands for the circle after the
second turn. Plus the tendency for many to stick the RH straight out for
the second turn, since hands are already raised for the clap & there isn't
much time to drop them, take hands for something less than a bar, and drop
them again. For some people, it seems to be continuing to dance & finishing
the first 1/2 turn without the assistance of hands.

BTW, I have also been at a social where the MC admonished us before the
dance "and NO CLAPPING was written into this dance" - thereby guaranteeing
that we all clapped enthusiastically. At least now I know where her comment
came from!

Regards
