Words via Joe Shelby pretty much as we used to sing it at Bothy
Nichts in the Sixties. Only slight difference was in second
verse where Joe offers

> He promised me the ae best pair
> That ever I set my e'en upon
> When I gaed to the Barnyards,
> There was naething there but skin and bone

We sang (and I prefer)

He promised me a pair o'horse
The best ah'd set ma e'en upon
When ah got doon tae the barn doors
There wiz nuthin' there but skin an' bone

The mem'ries this threed's draggin' up :-)
As fat Bob used to say in The Sunday Post
> Jings! Crivens! An', Michty Me!
