This seems to be the year everyone is going to Britain, and consider that I
have access to "the fount of knowledge"!

Last night I was discussing train travel with someone who is trying to get
from Oxford to Ayr. They have been given a route that takes them through
Birmingham and Carlisle, with changes at those stations.

Another way would be for them to go would be Oxford-London-Glasgow-Ayr, but
this would entail crossing cities in a taxi.

This couple is on the tour with the New Hampshire Strathspey & Reel Society
Music Tour of Scotland, so they will be burdened with instruments, etc. Can
any one who may know more about train travel than I, please advise.

Please answer me directly, Thank you.
