Having been trolling through some music to use in class I came
across the RSCDS/Colin Dewar CD for the Collins Pocket Reference
Book Vol 2. Here are some of the old dances done in a lovely relaxed
style by what sounds like a full band but there are just the four. 2 boxes
(or 1 with MIDIBass& piano), drums and fiddle and the music is
cracking. Admittedly it is just through the screen speakers but I've just
let it ru and been singing away to all the oldies plus some new sets (to
me) for Reel of the 61st Div. and Petronella. Theres a superb Waltz
Country Dance I just MUST give the class.
I also love to be able to dance their Eightsome at that speed
also but that's just a dream now. (so's the Foursome - sob)
It sums up what I feel about both fiddle and boxes together.
I can't comment about Vol 1 for the Ceilidh dances but it also
sounds great.
