This is somewhat off-topic, but there is a high concentration of Scottish Country Dancers and list members in the northeastern U.S. and eastern Canada, many of whom are as I type this without power due to a massive power outage of the power grid in that region. This is very reminiscent of the big blackout in the same region in the 1960's; like that event, this outage is believed to be the result of natural causes. New York City's airports had to shut down, which will disrupt air travel for days.
I don't know how much news coverage this will get in Europe and the other overseas locales of Strathspey subscribers, so I thought I would post this as an advisory to list members. If you are expecting e-correspondence from that region, or, worse, planning to travel through New York, Toronto, Ottawa, or other points in the region, your correspondence and/or travel plans will likely be disrupted.
Hopefully all our friends on this list in that area are coping well and will be back on-line with us shortly!
