The following concerns the thread "Crazy Eight(s)".

This version has been danced as a square in Shelburne,
Nova Scotia for a long period. The original tune used was
played on a fiddle. Unfortunately no recording or sheet
music around at the moment.

I have not had the opportunity to see it danced, but I was
assured that my choice of "Fisherman's Reel" was suitable.

Just thought this might be of interest to some of you.

CRAZY EIGHT DANCE
FORMATION: MINIMUM OF EIGHT COUPLES FORM A SQUARE
[There can be as many couples as there is room for as long as there are
equal numbers.]
MUSIC: Fisherman’s Reel [Drummond Cook] 5 x 32

A1 1 -:- 4 All couples join hands: East and West step in to meet each
other and back out to original places.
5 -:- 8 Same couples repeat and return to places
A2 1 -:- 8 Swing partners.
B1 1 -:- 4 All couples join hands: North and South step in to meet each
other and back out to original places.
5 -:- 8 Same couples repeat and return to places
B2 1 -:- 8 Swing partners.
A3 1 -:- 8 East and West take their partners and dance across the square
twice, returning to places.
A4 1 -:- 8 Swing partners.
B3 1 -:- 8 North and South take their partners and dance across the
square twice, returning to places.
B4 1 -:- 8 Swing partners.
A5 1 -:- 4 East and West couples join hands on the sides and step in to
meet each other in the middle of the set.
5 -:- 8 Partners change with couple facing them and dance across twice,
ending where the women started from. [The men are now with the opposite
woman.]
A6 1 -:- 8 Swing new partners.
B5 1 -:- 4 North and South couples join hands on the sides and step in to
meet each other in the middle of the set.
5 -:- 8 Partners change with couple facing them and dance across twice,
ending where the women started from. [The men are now with the opposite
woman.]
B6 1 -:- 8 Swing new partners.
A7 1 -:- 8 All the women join hands to dance a circle once round to the
left and then back to the right. [This allows time for the men to dance
round the outside of the set to their original places].
A8 1 -:- 8 Everybody swing partners.
B7 1 -:- 8 All the men join hands to dance a circle once round to the
left and then back to the right.
B8 1 -:- 8 Everybody swing partners.
A9 1 -:- 8 Each man places his right arm around his partner and all dance
in a circle once round; each man turns his partner round backwards three
times [Green Harbour Twist] and continue round until everyone is in original
places.
A10 1 -:- 8 Swing partners.
B9 1 -:- 8 Partners face and give alternate right and left hands to dance
a Grand Chain all the way round the square to original places.
B10 1 -:- 8 Swing partners.
