There is still time to register for the Far North Queensland Scottish Country Dancers Weekend, to be held in Cairns on 7, 8 & 9 June. The original closing date has been dropped and registrations will continue to be accepted until about 3 days before the event. The earlier the better to allow our caterers to do the best they can for us.
In June the weather in Cairns will be at its best. Sunny and warm, in the high 20s, without the humidity. Cairns is one of the most popular tourist venues in Australia and has a wide range of diverse distractions ranging from diving on the Great Barrier Reef, through white water rafting, night clubbing, the longest cable car skyrail in the world and some of the finest rainforests, beaches and coastal scenery to be found anywhere. (No I do not work for the tourist industry).

Our Weekend programme begins on the Saturday morning but an informal Friday night get-together will be arranged if required. Back to the plot!

Starts on Saturday morning with dance classes in the RSL Ballroom under the tuition of Duncan Smith and Anne Archdeacon, with music by Cathy Fraser. Lunch is included before we move into the afternoon classes. At 7 30 PM there will be an evening of Scottish instrumental music presented by Duncan and Cathy with a spot by local Celtic musicians.

Sunday from 11 AM to 2 PM there will be a Musicians workshop conducted by Duncan and Cathy. In parallel with this will be a Ball Walk-Through for those attending the Cairns Annual Ball that evening. The Ball will be held Sunday Evening at the RSL Club, with music again by Cathy and Duncan. Supper is included.

On Monday we conclude the weekend with Brunch in the park.
