There is a related problem to changes in RSCDS
publications. That is that the early books often kept
the same, copyright, date in spite of the fact that a
version was a later edition, with or without changes.
I have not kept up, but hope that this is no longer
Clues to later versions in the past are ...
1. if the book lists current officers, and you are
looking at book I dated 1923 and the officers are
those of 1935, the date is about 1935.
2. if the book lists Society publications, and you
see in your Book I, that the Society is offering Book
22, you are looking at an edition from the 60´s.
3. if the above clues do not work, check the price,
sometimes printed, sometimes with a sticker added.
Then compare with other books of the same price. If
the price is in shillings & pence [s/d]it is before
the 70´2, if decimal [p] it is after the 60´s.
When WYJTD [blue versions] were first issued, things
were added or deleted from the [green & previous blue
versions]. Any time the Society issues a publication
with changes, these should be annotated both on the
page where found, and in a indexed as erratum at the
