- to all those from Summer School coming to see "The Spirit of Scotland"
We hope you enjoy the show!
To those who haven't yet heard, it runs until Saturday 10th August 2002, in
the new venue of the Edinburgh Academy, 54 Henderson Row. Nightly
performances will be at 7:30, and there will be a Saturday matinee at 3:00.
Tickets, available nearer the time or on the door, will be £8/£7 concession
(and I think being an RSCDS member qualifies - worth checking).
"The show is a vibrant display of Scottish country dancing, accompanied by
some of Scotland's finest, on fiddle, accordion, guitar and pipes; featuring
Mairi Campbell, David Francis, Mo Rutherford, Neil Copland, the
Inverkeithing Scottish Scottish Step dancers, and of course adult and junior
dancers from Edinburgh Branch". My wife attended the dress rehearsal, and
enjoyed it so much she's coming back twice during the week. This is a great
showcase for SCD, and a wonderful counter-example for those who say SCD is
restricted to "old fogeys".
If you do come, I'm the tall dark handsome young(ish) man in the kilt. But
that doesn't narrow it down much... I'm in the Brodie kilt - green Brodie
in the first half and red Brodie in the second - and pale green tweed jacket
in the first half. Unless the person in that attire is going wrong, in
which case I wasn't even there...
Hope to see you there - and if you do go, I'd be interested to know what you
think of it.
