I'm not sure whether I agree that people don't wear the sash at dances.
I've seen quite a few - maybe it's a student thing, especially people who're
new to dancing in Scotland? Actually a decent (affordable) sash is
difficult to come by, which might have an effect on it. That said, it's a
little while since I wore mine and its last outing on anyone was about a
year ago...
