Just so that Simon doesn't feel like he is a minority of one, I will add
that I prefer the method he described.

Not wishing to make any converts, but how do the "other side" decide which
way 1M turns as he approaches 1L place? (Does the man slide in pulling back
L Sh, or put a little loop on pulling back R Sh?)
