I think I can shed some light on what might have happened to Richard:
For the benefit of those who can't remember to send their `subscribe' or
`unsubscribe' notices to the `...-request' address, the mailing list
software redirects short(ish) messages with `Subject: unsubscribe' and
such which are sent to `strathspey@...' to `strathspey-request@...'
instead. This is probably fairly sensible, since it keeps a lot of these
messages off the general distribution -- but if you want to talk to
people about the mechanics of (un)subscribing to Strathspey via the
list, make sure you use an innocuous `Subject:' or e-mail the person
One of the things on my To-Do list is to add the appropriate magic
incantations to the headers of Strathspey messages so that modern e-mail
clients can put up automatic `Unsubscribe' buttons and things. There is
an RFC out that explains what to do but I haven't got around to actually
applying this to Strathspey.
Sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused!
