Oh dear, I must have got it all wrong!
For many years now I have been encourageing people, through lectures, to
B.B.T.K.T.S.C.D.
(Bring Back The Kiss To Scottish Country Dancing)
SCD was de-sexed by the revivalist, but a few examples can still be detected.
The opening chord, now used for the bow/curtsy was used to kiss your partner.
The sustained note towards the end of MacDonald Of Sleat is one such remnant.
The bow and reel of three in bars 1-8 & 9-16 for 'Kiss Quick, My Mother's A
Comeing' in Caledonian Country Dances, 1748 is kiss and figure of eight.
Oh well - wrong again!
Traditionally yours
