I have been waiting for some days now for someone better informed than I
to write this message, but I now feel that it has to be written, so I
will do my best.
---------------
On the weekend before last (I believe Sunday 26 October), the world of
Scottish country dancing lost one of it's most colourful and
unforgettable personalities in the person of Iain Stuart Robertson. His
passing was peaceful, he just didn't wake up.
Iain was 79 years old and, while obviously not in at the start, he was a
major member of the RSCDS for a large part of its history. As well as
being an accomplished dancer and teacher of dances, he played the piano,
devised dances, composed tunes and sang. Attendees at Saint Andrews
summer school who were cajoled into singing hymns on Sunday were led by
Iain.
Iain was a recipient of the honourary scroll from the Society in (if my
memory serves me correctly) 1998.
He will be missed.
