Encore - four times through - for 2 couples

If the 2 couple dances were done in 3 couple sets from the start, wouldn't
this problem vanish? I'm noticing an increasing number of 6x(whatever tempo)
arrangements on recent recordings. Also, apparently 6x arrangements used to
be recorded - e.g., I found several nice ones on the Jimmy Shand collection
"King of the Melodeon Men"; surely it wasn't just because of the space
available on the recording medium (or was it?).

Anyhow, I'd be keen to see 3 couple sets for 2 couple dances become the norm.
