Clockwise fits better with my memories of the few times I have done it.
However,
I don't think I have ever done it with someone who knows categorically,
and I
remember some discussion on exactly that point on at least one occasion.
That
said, when we did it at Edinburgh branch dem class, we veered clockwise
and
the others seemed surprised I didn't know.

But this is all based on shaky memories. Take as much salt
with it as you like.
