Catch The Wind

The original tune recommended for this dance by the devisor (Romaine
Butterfield of Wellington, New Zealand) is the first of the 'flirtation'
hornpipes on the bracket of hornpipes recorded by Elma Grech on 'Elma's
Tunes'. Romaine is happy for the second 'flirtation' hornpipe to be used as
an alternative.

I recently wrote to Elma Grech and have been able to obtain both the source
of the music she used and a copy of both tunes.

The two hornpipes (the first and the fourth tunes in Elma's bracket) were
both published in 'Kerr's Collection of Reels and Strathspeys, Country
Dances, Etc for Pianoforte' by J S Kerr, 79 Berkeley Street, Glasgow. Both
tunes are on page 29 - No 1 is the first tune in her bracket and No 3 is
the last tune in her bracket. Both tunes are titled 'Flirtation' and are
categorised under 'Hornpipes, Flirtations'. Unfortunately, no date date of
publication is given.

It is possible that this publication is still in print. However, should any
of you be unable to obtain access to the original publication I will be
happy to provide you with a copy of the music from the copy sent to me by
Elma.
