Hi!

I see an opportunity to jump into this discussion and talk about one
of my biggest pet peeves in Scottish Country Dancing (and Contra,
too, for that matter). Booking ahead! As a single lady who almost
always attends these events alone (without a ready-made partner), it
is next to impossible to find a partner for even the FIRST dance, if
everyone has booked ahead just one dance. I have learned to be
very aggressive on the dance floor in order to find a partner for a
dance (unfortunately, this need to hunt prevents me from enjoying a
few minutes of polite chatting with my previous partner before the
next dance begins. Is there a solution to this? I wish there was,
because it's very disappointing to travel many hours to a dance only
to dance a few dances.

There.....got that off my chest!
