It's from The Australia Book by John Drewry. I don't have it with me so I
can't give you the explanation now.
There is another one in the book called The Victorian Virgins. This one if I
remember correctly was named because John asked some dancers from Victoria
to try out a "virgin" dance - it had never been danced before. When he told
them the name they thought it was great.
